Treatment Of Back & Neck Pain

This clininc has a particular emphasis on back and neck problems. Often musculoskeletal problems, seemingly unrelated to the neck or back, and manifesting in the shoulder for example, or elsewhere in the periphery of the body, are in fact referred from the spine. We therefore combine a number of treatments including mobilisation/manipulation of the neck or back, traction, postural re-education, advice on activities of daily living, ergonomics, corrective taping techniques and exercise rehabilitation to remedy the problem.

Treatment Of Other Conditions

Naturally conditions that are unrelated to the spine are also treated. Sprains and strains, including sprained ankles, often quite debilitating and lengthy in their healing, contusions, RSI, post-fracture rehabilitation, hand injuries, clicking jaw (TMJ problems), fallen arches of the feet, and many more are treated at the Richmond Physiotherapy Back & Necks.

About Joseph Ross - Chartered Physiotherapist

  • Chartered Physiotherapist
  • On his return to Australia he worked in the Alfred Hospital before establishing his private practice, Richmond Physiotherapy Backs & Necks.
  • For two seasons he was the solo physio for the Footscray Football Club.
  • He wrote a book on back pain which was published in 2003.
  • Following his experiences with the many and varied musculoskeletal injuries suffered by the players at Footscray, his focus changed to that of the spine. He found many of these injuries, although on the surface were brought about by blatant trauma on the field, in fact their genesis was spinal. It was more than often the case that the groin strain, hamstring tear, or rotator cuff injury had their origins in the spine, priming the area in question for injury.
